The Illinois Valley Symphony announces results of Young Performers Competition

The Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the winners, runners-up and honorable mentions of its annual Young Performers Competition, held Jan. 3. Young musicians in junior and senior divisions competed for the chance to perform with the IVSO at its March 8 concert. They also will join the IVSO for two in-school concerts for students in the La Salle-Peru and Spring Valley districts on Feb. 20;

Junior Division winner Reuel Pattar is a freshman at Princeton High School and won with his performance of the third movement of W.A. Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A Major, K. 622. Trombonist and La Salle-Peru High School junior Zayden O’Dell performed “Andante et Allegro” by Joseph Edouard Barat to win the Senior Division.

Junior Division runner-up Rosalind Kubin; Senior Division runner-up Jadyn Leone; Junior Division honorable mentions Adyssen Boaz and Madyson Govero; and Senior Division honorable mentions Ella Lewis, Hallee Loza, Zulee Moreland and Maggie Wiegman will perform again on the Young Performers Honors Recital. The recital will be at Westclox Fine Arts Factory on Feb. 6, 2026, at 6 p.m.

The IVSO thanks its season sponsor, Miller Group Charitable Trust, and acknowledges support from the Illinois Arts Council. Funding for the IVSO school concerts was provided in part by the Illinois Arts Council and the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation. The Young Performers concert on March 8 is sponsored by the Blouke and Marianne Carus Foundation.
