Welcome to our 58th Season
An Invitation
Welcome to the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra’s 2007–08 concert season. Music Director and Conductor Kevin McMahon has planned another year of outstanding programs. Concerts will present a variety of music ranging from traditional classics by Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, and Debussy to more modern favorites by Gershwin, Berlin, Joplin, Bernstein, Lennon/McCartney, and many more. Of special note is the return of The Nutcracker, a fully staged presentation of Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet with dancers from local ballet schools. New this season is a special Valentine’s Day concert. Highlights of the March concert will be performances by the winners of the annual Q97.7/Q 103.3 Young Performers Competition and the world premiere of The Magic Cup Suite by the Rev. Ed McKenna.
Preconcert talks before most subscription events will provide the opportunity to learn about the music to be performed, composers, and soloists.
We invite you to join our audience in being entertained, educated, and inspired by the fifty-eighth season of the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra.
